KIBELE ART GALLERY

Kibele Art Gallery was inaugurated in 2001 with the exhibition “Seas, Dreams and Cities” that was held in memory of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Aivazovsky, a painter of marine art from the 19th century. The name of the gallery derives from the statue of Kibele Fountain that stands in Is Towers. Since its foundation up to the present day, Kibele Art Gallery has been hosting the retrospective exhibitions of the artists enjoying a prominent place in Turkish plastic arts in a mission to support art and artists. The gallery also publishes comprehensive catalogues of the exhibitions it hosts to pass on the artists and their works to future generations; in this sense it creates important reference sources with respect to art history. Kibele Art Gallery has hosted about 80 exhibitions since its foundation. The gallery can be visited every day between 10.00 a.m. and 7 p.m. except for public holidays.
