Oktay Anılanmert

İş Sanat Ankara Art Gallery commemorates the artist Oktay Anınımert, who passed away in 2018, with a selection of his exhibitions opened in the past years. The works of the artist, who interprets the values of the human element that is disappearing in today’s world and its connection with life, can be viewed free of charge at İş Sanat Ankara Art Gallery starting from January 9th.

Oktay Anınımert, who started to take part in international exhibitions, biennials, shows and domestic artistic events in the 1960s, generally uses abstract-surreal, minimalist expressions in his paintings, sometimes with humor and sometimes with a critical approach. These actions, which stand out with their contrasts, are loaded with connotations about life. As can be seen in the artist’s paintings, figures that mix and merge with each other sometimes direct and drag each other. This attitude and understanding of form was also reflected in the pantomime plays he wrote and staged. It is seen that the short and concise expressions in the pantomime, the intertwined body language and game themes are re-pictured and feed each other, and they play an important role in the formation of Oktay Anlanmert’s artistic personality. A versatile artist, Oktay Anınımert’s creativity can be observed not only in painting, but also in large arrangements, fresco applications, metal works, mosaic panels, pantomime texts and plays.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge until July 1, 2024, at the Ankara Art Gallery, located on the 3rd floor of the Türkiye İş Bankası Economic Independence Museum in Ankara Ulus, between 10.00 – 18.00 every day except Mondays.
